Auto Expense Tracker helps users track expenses by reading financial transaction SMS messages on their Android device after the user grants SMS permission.
Information We Use
The app may access SMS sender, message body, and message date. This is used to identify payment messages, extract merchant names, amounts, currencies, and dates, categorize expenses, show filtered spending reports, and review excluded messages.
Local Storage
Auto Expense Tracker stores parsed transactions, manual expenses, transaction split lines, categories, include rules, exclude rules, amount rules, learned category patterns, excluded transaction status, and budget triggers on the user's device. The app does not upload SMS messages, parsed transactions, manual expenses, split lines, categories, rules, learned patterns, or budget triggers to cloud storage.
Home-Screen Widget
The app may provide a home-screen widget showing total spending for today and this month. The widget does not show SMS message content or merchant names.
Local Personal Learning
If a user chooses to improve categorization from a correction, the app may save a small local pattern such as a merchant word and category. This is used only on the device to improve future categorization and can be removed from Settings or by clearing local app data.
Offline Category Signals
The app includes offline merchant and category signals to help classify common transaction messages. These signals are bundled with the app and do not require uploading SMS messages or spending data.
Smart Categorization Settings
The app may store the user's selected Smart Categorization automation level on the device. This setting controls local categorization confidence and is not uploaded.
SMS Permission
SMS access is used only for the app's core money-management feature. Users can deny or revoke SMS permission at any time from Android Settings.
Excluded Messages
The app may automatically mark likely promotional messages as excluded when they contain amount-like text. Excluded messages are stored locally so users can review them and include them again if needed.
SMS Import Range
When importing from the inbox, the app focuses on recent history and reads up to one year of SMS messages.
Data Sharing
Auto Expense Tracker does not sell SMS data. The app does not share SMS message content, parsed transactions, or manual expense data with third parties.
Purchases
The app may offer a one-time premium unlock through Google Play Billing. Payment processing is handled by Google Play and the app does not receive full payment card details.
User Control
Users can clear local app data inside the app or remove app data using Android Settings. Uninstalling the app also removes locally stored app data from the device.
Children
Auto Expense Tracker is intended for users who manage personal expenses and is not directed to children.
